About Concealed Landscapes
Inside the crack, a landscape. Hidden in our midst, a microcosm of wonders. We may be living in an age of ecological and existential upheaval, yet small and amazing universes continue to thrive in the most unexpected of places.
One such place is this book. With a cover like an artist’s book, Concealed Landscapes is the first restrospective monograph of Swedish sculptor, painter, photographer, and filmmaker Oscar Furbacken. Through a diversity of showcased works and installations the reader is invited to peek into a marvelous world of mosses, lichens, fungi and other all too easily overlooked beings from our everyday surroundings.
Symbiotic with ecology and physics as well as with poetry and existential thought, Furbacken's approach has a depth that ultimately calls for a change of perspective. His art is on the search for new ways of connecting to the very ground on which we stand.
This generously illustrated publication has an introduction by the artist and features essays by Sinziana Ravini, Carl-Johan Olsson, Niklas Haga and Henna Paunu.
